Ruth Lamb (1829–1916) was a Victorian-era British author, known for her moralistic fiction and juvenile literature. Born Ruth Buck in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, she later married Joseph Lamb, a Manchester alderman. Over her lifetime, she wrote more than 40 books, many of which focused on social values, personal growth, and ethical dilemmas. Her works, including Holiday Stories, A Wilful Ward, and Arthur Glyn and Other Stories, were widely read and appreciated for their gentle moral lessons and engaging narratives. Lamb’s writing often depicted ordinary people facing challenges, emphasizing themes of kindness, perseverance, and redemption. Her books were published by Religious Tract Societies, reflecting her commitment to uplifting literature. She remained active in literary circles until her death in Chorlton, Lancashire, in 1916. Though lesser-known today, her works provide a fascinating glimpse into Victorian storytelling and moral instruction
