Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu was an Irish writer whose chilling tales shaped Victorian Gothic literature. Best known for Carmilla (1872), one of the earliest vampire novels, his atmospheric prose influenced Bram Stoker and later horror writers. A Dublin native, Le Fanu blended psychological terror with supernatural elements, leaving a lasting mark on dark fiction.
