John William Polidori (1795–1821) pioneered vampire fiction.
Gothic Fiction

John William Polidori, physician to Lord Byron, wrote The Vampyre (1819), inspiring generations of vampire lore. Though his life was brief, his work laid groundwork for Gothic horror and influenced Sheridan Le Fanu and Bram Stoker.
